The female infernal list has its own music
The female infernal names on this site weren't made by adding an -a to the male list. They were written as their own set — Akara, Damia, Ekova, Kalira, Vexana, Zeveia — built from the same smoky openings (Ak-, Kal-, Vex-, Zev-) but landing on endings that ring rather than bite: -ira, -ana, -eia. That distinction matters at the table, because a female tiefling warlock named Vexana and her brother Vexar should sound like siblings from the same burnt family tree, not like the same name in two fonts. The syllable engine underneath mixes these curated names with fresh combinations from the female suffix set, so long generating sessions keep producing names that stay on the female side of the family sound.
Female tieflings in fiction are also where the virtue-name tradition is most often explored — a daughter named Mercy by a mother determined that the Hells would not get the last word. Roughly one roll in five from this generator is a virtue name, matching the mixed tiefling page; if your character's story is specifically about rejecting the infernal inheritance, keep rolling until a virtue surfaces and treat the wait as part of the choosing.
From name to character
Once the name lands, the class pages finish the silhouette: a female tiefling rogue with a whispered street title reads completely differently from a paladin carrying a dawn-sworn epithet under a name like Penance. If you're building her counterpart instead, the male tiefling generator draws on the male infernal lists with the same virtue tradition running through it.
Frequently asked questions
Does this generator only produce female tiefling names?
Yes — it is locked to the female lists: female infernal first names and female syllable endings, plus the shared virtue names and surnames. The mixed-gender version is the main tiefling page; the male-only version has its own page too.
Why do some results come out as words like Hope or Mercy?
Those are virtue names — a naming tradition where tieflings reject their infernal heritage by taking a virtue or an idea as a name. About one roll in five lands on the virtue list, for female and male tieflings alike.
Are the female names just the male names with -a added?
No. The female infernal list was written separately (Akara, Kalira, Vexana, Zeveia…) with its own preferred endings like -ira and -eia, so female names have their own sound rather than a modified male one.
